Those Swedes sure do love them some American performance cars, especially ones of the Corvette variety. This thread from a Swedish car club forum tells a picture-story of a Corvette owners’ race weekend at what appears to be Mantorp Park Raceway, near Mantorp, Sweden. While none of us here at PowerTV know any Swedish, we were able to decipher a bit of what was going on in the photos and videos thanks to online translation sites, and from what we can gather this event was the yearly Swedish Corvette Club Championship.
One of the most interesting things about this is you will notice that the club members own a huge variety of Corvette models: everything from a pro-street 70’s Stingray (“Oldies”) to brand new C6 Z06’es rollin’ on dubs. We were also pretty impressed at just how hard they seem to drive their rare American cars – we can imagine that it isn’t exactly easy to get a Corvette to Sweden.
Mantorp Park is equipped with both a 1.9 mile road course and a drag strip, and as you can tell from the photos the Swedes put both tracks to good use. The caption under one of the racing videos translates to “It (the video) would seem to be [the] only one who has evidence of how hard I exhibit.” From the looks of it, most of this Corvette Club of Sweden likes to “exhibit” pretty hard on the race track.
