Swap Insanity: First Gen Corvette Receives C6 Treatment

[1]

As proved by the swap candidates that LSx engines find their way into, we think it’s safe to say that the platform has become a mecca of the motoring world. We’ve been seeing them swapped into more and more cars that would ruffle quite a few feathers if the purists got wind of it.

Luckily for us, that’s exactly what we thrive off of. In today’s video, we check out a meticulously clean first generation Corvette, 1959 to be exact. When it’s driving down the road, hood closed of course, nobody would suspect what lies beneath. However, when you pop the hood, modern GM enthusiasts like us get all googley-eyed and take tons of pictures.

From our contextual clues and quite obvious title, you probably have a pretty good idea of what is going on here. First, we will give you some background info. The owner of this car has been in possession of it for over fifty years, almost since it was new. What started as a stock Corvette evolved over the years and became a 9-second drag car.

As time went on though, the owner decided that his days of racing would come to a close. What would he do? Simple. The big block that was in the car would be replaced with pretty much everything that resides under a base model C6. The LS2, which is the focal point of the build, is complimented by C6 chassis components and a tubular front end. This provides a solid foundation for the ultimate cruiser. It also goes without saying that it should make plenty of power for a weekend joy ride. With a little bit of time, elbow grease, and attention to detail, you’re now the center of attention at every car show you go to!
