Sticker Shock: California Dealership Tacks On $49,995 To 2015 Z06

z06_3No one here at Corvette Online is under the impression that capitalism is rotten and needs to be done away with. Hell, it’s the chief reason why Chevrolet is able to make such kick-ass cars as the C7 Z06, everyone’s favorite forced-induction V8 supercar.

Nevertheless, it’s times like this that we get pretty bit ticked off at dealerships for being, well, dealerships: the barriers of entry, the gauntlets that all must face and do valiant battle against in order to secure their shiny new toy.

It’s no secret that when a vehicle as highly desirable and anticipated as the Z06 emerges, salesmen will start the process of figuring out how much of a mark-up, or added cost, they can add to said vehicle and still get away with it. It puts the leveraging power of price back in their court, and leaves the consumer sighing and wishing things were different.

Case in point: John D. Sullivan Chevrolet, a Roseville, California-based dealership has taken one of its Z06s and tacked on an additional $49,995 to the MSRP of $93,965, giving it a grand total of $143,960. If this isn’t a severe case of “sticker shock,” then we don’t know what is.

The documentation attributes the massive chunk of change to “market value adjust[ment],” but some might find it easier to just label it “greed.” A Google search on the Corvette’s VIN (1G1YT2D68F5601035) tells us precious little about the car itself, except that it has 2 miles on the clock and is painted in Black.

The word has spread incredibly quickly online, and good luck to those who are able to find it, since it seems the management at John D. Sullivan Chevrolet have seen fit to remove all trace of the controversial Corvette–at least from the Internet. Maybe they got incredibly fortunate and actually sold the damn thing; how crazy would that be?!
