Back in May, we broke the news that Brazilian drag racer Sidnei Frigo, who has competed in the United States in Top Alcohol Dragsters and most recently in Top Fuel, is preparing to make his Pro Modified debut with an all-new twin-turbocharged Chevrolet C7 Corvette.

11411775_130758140591494_1779454268258166734_oIn just over a months time, the sleek new Corvette has gone from a bare chassis to a complete race car, paint and all, with only the final wiring and plumbing remaining before on-track testing can commence.

Jerry Bickel Race Cars constructed the chassis, which was cloaked in the body developed by Cindery Composites. A colorful but minimalist paint scheme was applied, using a wide color palette as has been customary on Frigo’s dragsters, with a carbon fiber-esque stripe design down the hood. ProLine Racing Engines supplied the Hemi powerplant, which will receive boost from a set of Precision turbochargers. FuelTech, which is based in Brazil, will serve on the engine management side with their trick FT500 system.

The Corvette is now in the hands of RK Racecraft for final fabrication and assembly work. RK most recently had their hands in El General Racing’s new C7, Willard Kinzer’s new 350Z Pro Mod, Troy Coughlin’s Jeg’s Corvette, Q80 Racing’s True 10.5 Mustang, and Andrew Alepa’s Pro Drag Radial Mustang.

The Itatiba, Sau Paulo native will be competing in the PDRA’s Pro boost category and, given his background with the NHRA, could well join the Pro Modified fray on the NHRA Mello Yello Series, as well.

Frigo first appeared in the United States in Top Alcohol Dragster, where he made history in 2010 by becoming the first Brazilian in history to win an NHRA national event. A year later, he finished in the top 10 in the national standings before stepping up to Top Fuel on a part-time basis in 2013.
