We still don’t know specifics in regards to the 2018 Ford Mustang GT500, but if there is one thing we are sure of– its that it is going to be pretty mean.
Rumors have been flying around the internet (as usual), this time suggesting the GT500 could come to us sporting a boosted V8 under the hood with up to 800 horses. If this is going to be the case, maybe the Corvette should be scared.
And while Chevrolet has been very hush-hush about the possibility of an upcoming new, higher performance Corvette, we’re almost positive that one is on its way as various spy photos of the new ZR1 have been snapped. It should soon be available with new upgrades to the exterior, suspension and an upgrade where it counts–under the hood.
As many of you probably already know, the current Z06 already pushes a whopping 650 horsepower and, while we aren’t 100 percent sure, the ZR1’s new engine should be pushing around 750 (possibly more). This is a pretty large jump from what its currently making but shouldn’t be a surprise since the C6 ZR1 produced 133 horsepower more than its Z06 counterpart. And while we don’t know all of the specifics on either car just yet, we are fairly certain that the new ZR1 will be making its debut at next year’s Detroit Auto Show.
There’s no doubt both are amazing cars and their new versions will be just as incredible. However, Chevrolet never ceases to impress us, so we’re not too worried. Even with the projected upgrades, the ZR1 may still lack the same punch its competitor could soon be offering. While the ‘Stang will be pushing more horsepower, everyone is sure that the ZR1 will be much lighter. Meaning these two might just make for a good competition.
All bias aside, who do you think would be the winner?
