[1]The Corvette is one of the most modified vehicles in history. There has never been a shortage of tweaked’Vettes, and there always seems to be a new one right around the corner.
This latest one, the Rossi SixtySix [2] Corvette featured on this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage [3], seems like it could have rolled off of a future GM assembly line.
[4]This futuristic-yet-retro design comes from the mind of David Rossi. It is an obvious tribute to the ever-green classic 1966 Corvette, but with a design still distinctly unique. The SixtySix isn’t trying to be a 1966 Corvette. It is its own car, with a modified suspension, big rotors and 4-piston calipers front and back to go with the generous wheels. The interior is also a bit more 21st-century, with upgraded materials, and an LCD screen and rear-view camera, rather than mirror (which Mr. Leno did not care for).
[5]The ‘donor’ car in Leno’s Garage was a 2007 Z06, but Rossi will do any Corvette new from the factory, so you can get it with the ZR-1 package, or just a base ‘Vette. With an estimated price of $120,000 to $130,000, you’re already in for a lotta scratch, so you might as well go all the way. Oh, and the only option is a fake hood scoop, though you can have your own wheel and tire package if you so desire (though those wheels fill the fender wells nicely).
So, is it worth the price of admission?
