We would first like to take a minute and thank everybody who contributed to this week’s edition of “Reader Reaction”, as these would not be possible without your support. We received more responses and pictures than we thought we would, and considering each person’s memories are dear to them, it was especially difficult to pick a few out of the bunch. We really do appreciate your participation.
The first story that caught our eye, was from Sue Veryl Crutcher, who commented with, “Taking museum delivery today with our son and grandson there with us to share and enjoy the day. 2015 Corvette Stingray convertible”, What an amazing moment that must have been, being able to share that with three generations of family; surely your grandkids will always remember that moment! Not to mention picking up one of the new amazing Stingrays and doing so at the National Corvette Museum. We wish you and your family much luck and enjoyment with that new, yellow family addition.
Next, Chris Havlik wrote in about his favorite memory being, “Driving her with 27 miles on it when I was 16 and temp license. My sister bought it brand new. Then I took her to High school Prom, graduation and 10 year reunion. Since then my daughter has drove it to her college graduation and wedding and unfortunately it was in my son’s funeral precession. She is an 80 with 30k on it now. One of 844 in Dark Mettalic Green in that year. She will never leave the family.”
Mr. Havlik, we can only imagine what that must have been like at 16-years young, must have been quite the experience. Just imagine being 16 today and strapping in behind the wheel of a 2015 Stingray… wow. Also very cool as that you were able to have the continuity through the high school activities with it as well. We are sincerely sorry to hear about your son, but in a way, it must have been comforting to have your ’80 participate in the service. We are happy to hear that it gets driven, while maintaining a reasonable milage count, and we fully support it being a family heirloom… sure beats a bronze statue!
Lastly, Anders Hulting said, “When I took My z06 to the racetrack:-)”. Sometimes it really is just that simple, after all these cars were made with performance in mind from day-one and really seem to shine when they are allowed to stretch there legs on the track. We hope you really enjoyed pushing that Z06 to her limits!
Thank you again for your postings, every persons story was a joy to read, and allows us all to reflect on our own Corvette memories. While we all love Corvettes for different reasons: road racing, drag, car shows, restorations, etc., it really is about the folks we meet and being able to share this great hobby with family and friends that makes all the difference. After all, a car show or driving around a track by yourself could get a little old really fast.
