Powerful Storm Leads To Crushed Corvette

When most people park their cars in their driveway at night, there is a certain feeling of safety in having your ride close by. After all, how often is a car stolen or damaged in your own driveway? We like to consider it a bubble of protection, immune from a scary world of bad drivers and car thieves. But the truth is, nowhere is truly 100% safe, especially when it comes to Mother Nature.

Just ask Gary Vasi, who came out of his Troy, Michigan home to discover that nature had toppled a tree over on his prized Corvette. ABC Action News [1] reports that Vasi was one of many Troy residents who woke up to the widespread destruction, though he arguably had greater reason to wince than many of his neighbors.

The powerful storms that moved across Michigan last week knocked out power and uprooted trees across the state, causing plenty of property damage, though amazingly no one was injured during the extreme weather. Vasi, who decided to skip out on his daily aerobic classes because of the weather, would have been in his Corvette around the time of the storm.

So in that aspect he’s lucky, but on the other hand we can understand why he would be crying and shaking over the sight of the crushed Corvette. That said, by the time he was interviewed, he seemed to be taking the whole thing in stride. At the end of the day this is what insurance is for, and hopefully Vasi’s insurance will replace his Corvette, and then some. At the end of the day, it’s still just a car.
