Video: New Corvette Commercial Highlights Petit Le Mans Win

[1]Last month, Corvette pulled off an incredible upset win at the American Le Mans Series Finale at Petit Le Mans. It was an amazing finish to a season that was up-and-down from the start, and their first checkered flag in 2010. It was the culmination of a season of triumph, teamwork, and never giving up.

To commemorate this victory, GM put out a special 30-second commercial spot highlighting some very interesting statistics from the race.

The win at Petit Le Mans is certainly worth bragging about. After sitting in second place for a long time, the #4 Corvette Racing C6.R piloted by Oliver Gavin was able to overtake the #64 Ferrari after the Ferrari ran out of fuel. While it may not seem like an amazing finish, the fact of the matter is that the Corvette Racing team, as a whole, performed their jobs, filling the ‘Vette with just enough fuel to make it to the end of the race. Ferrari? They didn’t add quite enough.

The new commercial spot is narrated by Tim Allen, the new “voice” of Chevy. He rattles off some impressive statistics. Did you know it took 8,520 gearshifts to make it to the end of Petit Le Mans? Or that the three drivers went around 4,260 corners over the course of 902 miles, making ten pit stops along the way. It is a brief commercial, but a very good one, and while we may not care for the “Chevy Runs Deep” slogan at the end, we’re starting to think it might grow on us over time.
