The Corvette Stingray is a truly amazing vehicle for any number of reasons… mostly performance related, some for styling, or being America’s sports car. Beneath all of this, is the fact that for many people they get all of these things at a price that they can actually afford. This is a definite distinguishing factor when comparing the performance tests of the Corvette amongst its class competitors when considering their sticker prices.
Pictured here are two examples of new Corvette Stingrays that were being exported into China. Generally speaking, super cars are marked up to about double the cost they go for in the United States. While this can make for some sizable figures considering the original cost of the cars, Corvettes are appearing overseas with an asking price of over four times their original window sticker.
As reported by GTSpirit, the two Stingrays pictured above have an asking price of an equivalent $282,000 and $273,000 U.S. dollars. While this is clearly an insane number for a base model, it gives a good sense of pride to those of us that own and/or relish in all that is the Corvette. If our friends in China are willing to pay that kind of money for these cars, we certainly can be sure that the Chevrolet Corvette is a well respected, top-notch vehicle.
Unfortunately, the Corvettes being imported into China along with any other vehicles the Chinese government doesn’t deem to be “green” are being met with stern opposition. While some Stingrays have found their way into China, the amount is certainly decreasing. Apparently we are luckier to have them then we might have thought!
