National Corvette Museum Takes Over GM Plant Tours

BGCorvetteAssembly198-mediumTo Corvette enthusiasts, Bowling Green, Kentucky is a mecca of all things ‘Vette, because it’s home to the National Corvette Museum, NCM Motorsports Park, and the General Motors Corvette Assembly Plant. Offering a wide range of sights, sounds, and activities, this is the undisputed wailing wall of Corvettedom.

Just this week, The National Corvette Museum announced it was taking over public tours of the plant so GM can concentrate on making great Corvettes.

BGCorvetteAssembly020-medium“We are in the business to build cars,” said Kai Spande, assembly plant manger at General Motors Bowling Green. “The National Corvette Museum is in the hospitality and tourism business, and currently leads a number of tour programs through the plant, including R8C museum delivery, visitor experience, VIP tours, photo albums, and buyers’ tours, so it was only fitting to add our public tour program to the list of offerings.”

To coincide with the change, standard one-hour tours will depart every 15 minutes beginning at 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. Covering a one-mile stretch, visitors will have the opportunity to be part of the magic that goes into each Corvette as it makes its way down the assembly line.

After experiencing the excitement of the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, patrons can make their way to the museum. The expansive 115,000 square-foot facility features more than 80 Corvettes, including classics, concept cars, throwbacks, and Chevy’s current offering. If that’s not exciting enough for you, buy a ticket and take a ride in a Corvette with a professional driver who will rocket around the NCM Motorsports Park, or bring your own sports car to carve the corners like a professional.
