MTI Z06 Corvette Breaks Record at Ultimate Track Car Challenge

The best of the best come out to show off their stuff and compete for titles at the Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge [3]. The “bring all you’ve got and then some” mentality served as an incentive for teams with exotic prototypes, Corvettes, Nissan GTRs, Porsches and other supercars to battle it out on the track this year. Taking place at Virginia International Raceway, teams competed with their cars in 105 degree heat. Although conditions were rough and stakes were high, a team racing a Z06 Corvette pulled through at the top of the pack, crushing the National Auto Sport Association’s TTR record and walking away with three other awards.

[4]The Z06 was fielded by MTI Racing [5], a team competing for the first time this year in the Ultimate Track Car Challenge. Amongst the grueling field of competitors, the Z06, driven by Reese Cox, was able to pull an astonishing 1:54.9 lap time around the 3.27 mile track. In addition to setting the new record, the Corvette also took home the Fastest Production V8, Fastest Production Car with a Wing and Fastest GM Car awards.

MTI specializes in building and maintaining high-performance cars. They also provide maintenance, service and parts for all GM street vehicles. Included in their facility is a DynoJet chassis dyno, SPA shock dyno, and even an in-house machine shop.

With all their high-performance knowledge and capabilities, it’s no surprise that MTI was able to make such an impact at the Ultimate Track Car Challenge. We would like to congratulate the team on their accomplishments and encourage them to bring their Z06 back next year with even more performance features, because as true competition goes, there will be numerous teams out their aiming to take their record and awards away from them next year.
