Midwest Collection is a Chevy Convertible Museum In It’s Own Right

Car collections can be small or large but some are so impressive you just have to see them for yourself. Luckily, Michael Brown continues his Vette Collections series with one of the most immense and notable private Chevy collections in the country, which may just mark the only time you’ll have the chance to see the amazing property of Dennis Albaugh and the cars it contains. Check out this 100+ car collection in the video above.

Housed in the middle of the Midwest in Ankeny, Iowa, Albaugh’s car collection is stunning to say the least. Housed in a garage built for 120 cars, the total number of cars in Albaugh’s automotive warehouse has reached an astounding 147 vehicles. Among these are nearly three dozen Corvettes, mostly of the C1, C2 and C3 generations that all started with Albaugh’s first- a black 1960 roadster.

But Albaugh’s car collection goes well beyond just Corvettes. In fact, he owns rows of Chevy Bel Airs, Chevelles, and Camaros. The collection also includes many early-model Chevys including a 1912 Little. The one thing the whole collection has in common besides brand? Almost every single car is a convertible. In fact, the only non-convertibles in the collection are a Ron Fellows Limited Edition Z06, a 2009 ZR1 and a 1939 Chevy (no convertibles of this model were made for sale in the United States), although Albaugh has an Australian 1939 convertible currently on its way.

Albaugh's car collection has two overlying themes: the Chevy brand and convertible models.

From the looks of it, Albaugh is going to have to expand soon if he keeps buying more cars but we’re sure that won’t be an issue. Albaugh is the owner of Albaugh Inc., a very successful agricultural chemicals company which has allowed him to buy not only his immense car collection but build a stunning mansion on his private 19-hole golf course. While we don’t know for sure what the next car added to the collection will be, we have reason to believe it’ll be a convertible.

This 1960 Corvette was Albaugh's first, and we're sure he hasn't bought the last Vette just yet.
