A bit of background: Farboud Limited was founded by Arash Farboud in 1999, but underwent a name change to Arash Motor Company Ltd [3]. With very innovative engineering and use of materials, Arash brings us their newest creation – the AF8.

[4]Looking at the AF8’s shape and angular body lines, we can already tell that this is going to be a hell of a car, however, the details and specs are what really get our blood pumping about this thing. Strapped with GM’s 7.0L LS7 mated to an aluminum 6-speed manual gearbox making 550 naturally-aspirated horsepower, The AF8 is claimed to have a 0-60 MPH time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 200 MPH.

[5]Weight obviously plays a big part in the development of a supercar as well as the materials used to save weight and provide structural rigidity – that’s where the AF8’s chassis prevails. The AF8’s body is entirely made of carbon fiber and the chassis is made from carbon & aluminum reinforced “hybrid” tubular steel construction.

[6]The interior isn’t skimped by any means. Aluminum, carbon fiber, and beautifully stitched leather are used throughout the cockpit to provide that racy, yet luxurious look and feel. And check this out – titanium is used for the heater controls so that they stay warm to the touch in the winter and they are cool to touch in the summer – how cool is that? It’s not really all that important in the big scheme of things, but is a very cool idea.

Pricing and real performance figures haven’t been released yet, but will be revealed closer to its launch later this year, provided there are minimal setbacks. We’re thinking that the AF8 is going to be priced somewhere south of its larger counterpart, the AF10, which is priced around $800,000. Check out their website [2] for more info on the AF8! [7]
