VetteWars [1]What does Corvette, Rick Hendrick, and Star Wars have in common? Speed and The Force!

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has been called a phenomenon at the box office, and one of the highest grossing movies of all times.

Rick Hendrick, a former NASCAR [2]racer and the current owner of the NASCAR Team [3], also owns one of the country’s most renowned Corvette dealers.

VaderVette [8]But what does Corvette and Star Wars have in common besides The Force? The answer is fast ships, a.k.a. Corvettes!

As we know, Corvette owes its name to a small and fast naval warship. Those who enjoy “the thrill of the ride” can assert to that speed factor. During war times, Corvettes were used as patrol ships, escorts, and defenders of their flags.

Fast forward to “a galaxy far far away” and Corvettes are still fighting the wars. Corvette Starships were used during the final days of the Galactic Republic and the reign of the Galactic Empire.

One of the most notable ones was the Corvette CR90, also known as a Corellian Blockade Runner or Tantive IV.

It was manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation (CEC), a starship manufacturer in the galaxy.CR90 [10]

We may not be flying those CR90s yet, but Rick Hendrick’s Star Wars themed collection is a tribute to its galactic descendants and is sure to awaken The Force here on Earth.

In the meantime, we will continue to enjoy the thrill of the ride in our earthly CR90 prototypes. Can you hear our “vintage C7s” say “CR90, I am your Father!?”Trooper [11]
