Chevrolet [2] engineers did their best building the ultimate racing machine with the Corvette [3] Z06, boasting 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. However, the roaring LT4 engine also boasts a hefty price tag. Lingenfelter [4] Performance engineers believe they have found a solution by introducing an upgrade to the Corvette C7 that they expect will close the gap between performance and cost.
[5]The change is in the addition of an Edelbrock [6] E-Force TVS2300 supercharger, Kooks [7] headers, and CORSA [8] Performance exhaust system, taking the stock Corvette LT1 V8 from 460 horsepower to 624 horsepower and from 465 lb-ft to 600 lb-ft of torque.
According to Yahoo Autos, Ken Lingenfelter stated, “The car is a special edition for Corvette owners that desire a unique look with more power than the factory C7, while remaining well under the Z06 price point.”
Such a performance package cannot come without a “suped-up” body kit. As Yahoo Autos reported, “To offset the massive increase in horsepower, Lingenfelter swapped the original Corvette wheels and tires for a set of 335/25ZR20’s from Continental [9].” This, in addition to a display of exterior modifications that include a carbon fiber heat extractor in the hood, a new front splitter, and a wide rear body kit to accommodate the wider tires.
Perks include Lingenfelter badges all around the car, and an official certificate of authenticity. The performance and body kit package comes with a one year/12,000 mile warranty on all added components. The Lingenfelter upgrade will cost you a generous $10,995. However, not bad in comparison to the additional $20,000 you would spend upgrading to a Z06.
