Lingenfelter and Edelbrock Push LS2 Corvette Power to ZR1 Levels

As a “transitional” powerplant, the 400 horsepower LS2 engine that made its way between the fenders of 2005-2007 C6 Corvettes is often overlooked in favor of the more-powerful LS3, or the cheap and plentiful LS1/LS6 family. That means the LS2 doesn’t always get the respect a naturally aspirated, 2-valve pushrod 6.0 liter V8 making that much horsepower should, or the aftermarket support offered for earlier and later LS mills.

Fortunately for early C6 owners, though, our friends at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering put the same kind of love into every car they can get their hands on, and their supercharger package for LS2 Corvettes is just as robust as you might expect. Based around the OEM-level engineering of Edelbrock’s E-Force supercharger, the LPE kit takes things a step farther.

The heart of the system is an Eaton TVS2300 twin-rotor supercharger with integral air-to-water intercooling, which is a pretty good place to start – There isn’t a supercharger company out there today that has as much experience building original-equipment, factory superchargers for modern cars and trucks than Eaton. Then, Edelbrock took that rotor assembly and packaged it in their own housing, designed, tested, and manufactured in-house in the US. Edelbrock even has their own foundry for total control of quality from molten metal to finished product.

The E-Force supercharger fits under the stock C6 hood for stealth, but with Lingenfelter’s take on this blower, the aggressive idle will be a dead giveaway. To get the most out of the extra air, LPE adds a Competition Cams GT9 “ZR1” camshaft (and an unmistakable lope at stoplights), and ported LS2 heads topped by COMP dual valve springs, titanium retainers, and 10-degree locks.

Upgraded fuel injectors and a Kenne Bell Boost-a-Pump system add the fuel necessary to go with the extra air, and a 160 degree thermostat keeps things running cool. The end result of LPE’s hard work is 630 brake horsepower and 547 pound-feet of torque – That’s ZR1 territory for “just an LS2 Vette.”

Something that also comes included is peace of mind, thanks to LPE’s 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty on the engine assembly, and your car will only be in Lingenfelter’s care for 2 weeks once you’ve scheduled your appointment to get the system installed, your PCM calibrated, and before-and-after chassis dyno pulls.

It’s almost enough to make you want to run out and pick up a bargain-priced LS2 C6 just to get this done, don’t you think?
