Remember that Twitter photo that Jeremy Clarkson posted on May 5th with a Millenium Yellow 2015 C7 Z06? Well, that photo was from when he recently reviewed the car for Driving.co.uk, but being that there are cameras in the background of the photo, and no video to be found with his review, the speculation level of a new motoring program is pretty high.
The last time Clarkson reviewed a C7, it was the convertible, and was for Driving.co.uk as well. When he reviewed the C7 Convertible, he liked it very much, and we were quite surprised because it’s not all that often that Clarkson takes a liking to an American vehicle; it’s actually very rare. However, with this latest review, we were pretty thrown off. Apparently, adding about 200 horsepower, carbon fiber, titanium bits, and usable downforce doesn’t work for Clarkson, but there is a lot more to the Z06 than “looking good in a brochure.”
“So if you want a serious car, buy one from the continent that gave the world Shakespeare, Monet and Emerson Lake & Palmer. Europe does serious well. It does substance. It does brilliant. America does Disney. And what we have with the Z06 is Disney trying to do a hard-hitting documentary about Africa’s civil wars,” Clarkson wrote at the end of his review.
He complained that the exhaust was louder than anything he’s ever heard, that the steering is overly twitchy, and that it’s really not nice to drive at all. Maybe he just needs more seat time in the car, maybe he was just in a grumpy mood, or maybe he just doesn’t favor the Z06 over the C7 Convertible. It is good to see that there are different opinions about the car than ours, though. Read the full Z06 Clarkson review here.
