Is the Corvette a “Better Mousetrap”?

If you’ve ever worked on an engine, you probably know that it isn’t very difficult to gather a collection of hardware within in the seemingly endless abyss that is the engine bay. In today’s video, the owner of this particular Corvette finds that he has something a bit different hiding out under his hood and it isn’t as easy to fish out as one might think.

According to the video description, the Corvette owner had pulled his car out of winter storage only to find a furry little friend nested atop his intake manifold. Over the course of the winter a family of rodents decided to make their home under the hood of this C5 – and here I thought only 4 bangers were powered by rodents on a wheel! Seems like this mouse picked the perfect spot to lay his claim. Even after a 15 minute spin in the car the little guy decided to stay put.

Maybe next time the owner will know better and take the proper precautions when storing his car. Luckily, it appears as if the Corvette (and the furry squatter) got out unscathed this time, but the amount of potential damage that could have occurred would make any enthusiast cringe. When it comes to storing a car, some jack stands, a few mothballs, and a couple of mousetraps could save you a major wiring disaster and prevent the creation of an unnecessary money pit.

The fate of the mouse is inconclusive from what we can see in the video. Who knows? Maybe he is still scurrying around in there. Just goes to show you that being a motor head can be more instinctual than learned!
