Taking place at 10:23p.m. on a toll road in Indiana, right down the way from mile marker 100 and State Road 15 exit to Bristol, the tragic crash took place last Tuesday night as a semi trailer slowed down for a passing firetruck. Unfortunately, a 2003 C5 Corvette following the semi did not slow down, according to witnesses, and slammed right into the back end of the truck, wedging itself underneath the truck’s rear end.

The crash backed up traffic and diverted it to State Road 15 for over an hour.

The driver of the Corvette, identified now as 44-year-old Shawn Young of Aurora, Nebraska died as a result of his injuries in the incident. He was airlifted to an area hospital but was pronounced dead after arriving at the facility.

The driver of the semi, a 34-year-old man from Ohio was also taken to the hospital, but was released after being treated for minor injuries.

According to Fox 28’s report, police did not release any other information, but would do so in the future pending notification of Young’s family.  The incident is still under investigation.
