January 14th-22nd will mark the 46th annual Scottsdale Auction and first Barrett Jackson auction of 2017. The event is starting to take shape, and Barrett Jackson has released some teaser cars– including Zora Arkus-Duntov’s 1960 Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle CERV 1.
This 1960 CERV 1 is now one of the most anticipated vehicles on the list. It was owned by Zora Arkus-Duntov, who was a Chevrolet Staff Engineer and race car driver, today, is dubbed the “Father of the Corvette.” The CERV 1 was developed to serve as Zora’s personal test vehicle and ultimately ended up being a huge asset for advancements to the ‘Vette throughout the ‘60s. Allegedly, its was used to develop multiple features on thee 1963 Sting Ray, including its independent suspension. The Corvette wouldn’t be what it is today without it.
Now, it has been restored in its original cosmetic and mechanical form– It holds a 377ci aluminum small block, an advanced Rochester fuel-injection system, and Indy-style tires and wheels. This legendary historical vehicle has won countless awards and still boasts a considerable amount of paperwork.
This car is sure to be a hit at the auction. “Our Scottsdale Auction is the best event to get the full effect of what we call the ‘Barrett-Jackson Experience,’” said Steve Davis, Barrett Jackson President. On top of the CERV 1, the Scottsdale auction will also be showcasing Steven Tyler’s 2012 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder and 140 special vehicles in the “Charlie Thomas Collection”. This is one you won’t want to miss!
