Your author has literally never heard of the 1977 film, High Rolling, until earlier this morning. Apparently, it was an Australian film that featured two blokes and a lime green early C3 Corvette – complete with right hand drive. It starred Joseph Bottoms and Grigor Taylor as Tex and Alby – or two Western-like outlaws “in search of girls and good times.”

So it’s the late 1970’s, you’re driving a relatively new Corvette, and you drive past a pretty girl in search of a lift. What better way to introduce yourself, then to do a 180 in the middle of the road, and offer her ‘a ride?’

It’s essentially a ’70s buddy comedy filled with laughs, political incorrectness, sex, drugs and rock and roll. We just ran across the trailer for the DVD release of the film on Vimeo, and the way the narrator describes this film as, “a fun time movie that’s better than a ride downtown on a Saturday night with your best girl,” makes us wonder what kind of drugs he was on when he was reading his lines.

We especially like it when he continues saying, “If you’re 35 years old, and the mortgage payments are a real hassle, and the car won’t start in the morning, and your dog won’t stop barking at night, then get yourself into gear, and come high rolling.” Quite a mouthful, but when you’re on speed you don’t need to breathe while speaking.

...and if your lime green C3 ever breaks down, you could always hitchhike, ride in the bucket of a digger, or give each other piggy back rides. High rolling, indeed...
