Harrop Teams With Forgeline to Win 3 Time Attack Divisions

Not one. Not two. But three divisions of the recent 2012 World Time Attack Challenge were claimed by our buddies at Harrop Engineering [1]. Even though they finished 4th overall, Harrop took the win for Rear Wheel Drive, Naturally Aspirated, and V8 classes in their “imported” American Corvette Z06.

In the video [3] above Steve Moore, general manager of Harrop Engineering gives us the rundown on the team’s 2009 Z06 that they had converted to right-hand-drive specifically for this event. The car still has a full interior, and Harrop kept the formula fairly simple by using mostly bolt-on parts to upgrade the Z06’s suspension. For the engine, Harrop threw on their new prototype Hurricane intake manifold and air box and stabbed in a new camshaft. They even left the stock exhaust manifolds in place, and added a gorgeous titanium Evolution cat-back exhaust from Akrapovic [4]. When all is said and done, the LS7 now makes somewhere around 670 horsepower.

The classes Harrop competed in required the use of a “street tire” with a tread wear rating of over 140. So they went with tried and true Michelin PS-2 tires 315/30/18 and even bigger 345’s in the rear. For wheels, only the best would do – so Harrop put the PS-2s on a set of Forgeline’ [6]s GA1R Wheels [7]. With its I-beam spokes, forged 6061-T6 aluminum construction, and open lug design – the GA1Rs are a serious set of race rollers. “Forgeline wheels has come up with a fantastic fitment [for this car] of their lightest and stiffest wheel.” Says Moore.  Check ‘em out here [7].
