Hagerty Predicts the 2013 427 Convertible will be a Collectible

[1]

Collectible cars have a certain “I want this” type of feel to them, but it’s up to the actual collectors to determine a car’s future worth. Hagerty Insurance is one of the premier companies insuring such vehicles, and they’ve recently released their annual “Hot List” [2] of cars they project to be worth something in the future. One of those cars is the awesome 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible, powered by the 505 horsepower LS7 427 cubic-inch powerplant, shifted with a six-speed manual transmission, and rolling on Cup wheels and Michelin PS2 rubber. The 2013 ‘vert is a machine that combines the best of the Z06 and ZR1 models and loses the top for an awesome combination of American muscle.

As 2013 is the 60th anniversary of the Corvette’s debut, along with being the final model year of C6 Corvette production, it’s with this in mind that the ‘Vette falls second on the company’s list of cars that will likely becomes collectibles within the next 20 years. In the past, final-model-year Corvettes have become instant classics, and they feel that this iteration of the car will fit that bill neatly.

The C6 ‘vert will cover 0-60 in just 3.8 seconds while retaining the ability to hit the beach, top down. and look for the second (or third) trophy wife for those discerning ‘Vette buyers. With the new 2014 C7 on the way this fall and C6’s being cleared out to make room, if you’re in the market for one of these machines, it’s time to stop kicking the tires and start the buying process. As always, low-mile cars will be worth much more in the future than worn-out pothole-beaten machines, so if you can swallow the $75,925 sticker price and get one of these into your garage for storage, the time is now.
