As a Corvette enthusiast, your worst fear is getting a scratch or dent on your prized posession. Second to this, is getting a recall notice, especially on your brand new car.

With all the media coverage in recent history, it is very hard to ignore the amount of recalls GM has had recently. While the C6 had some recent recalls, it appears that it is now the C7’s turn. For those fortunate enough to own a C7, don’t worry too much because this recall only impacts a small number of 2014 C7’s (712 to be exact). In GM’s latest recall, they are recalling all 2014 Stingrays equipped with the Competition Sport seats upgrade so that they can replace the passenger-seat airbag.

[3]According to GM, they are unaware of any crashes or injuries linked to the recall, but they did explain that “an unbelted child and door trim may block the passenger-seat side airbag vent in a deployment.” If you currently own a 2014 C7 with Competition Sport seats, GM has asked that customers do not allow small children in the front passenger-seat until the vehicle is serviced. In order to resolve the problem, GM will be sending a mailer to owners of Competition Sport seat-equipped C7’s asking them to bring their vehicles to their nearest dealership for replacement of the airbag with a newly revised version. The repair is free of charge, of course.

GM has asked that owners do not bring their vehicles into dealerships and take no action until they receive their formal recall notification in the mail.
