The C7 Corvette is a big hit for GM. Burning up the sales charts with almost 35,000 units delivered in model year 2014, it was only a matter of time before we started to see proliferation of the dreaded body kit. With such a large number of cars delivered to well-heeled customers with money to burn, parts manufacturers from around the world have their sights set on piece of the C7 buzz. Body kits usually don’t do justice to any Corvette but this one from German tuner Prior Design is subtle and dare we say, tasteful enough to warrant a closer look. Bold Rides brings us the story.
For a little over $8200, you get a new front bumper skin with wide mouth grille, spoiler and air intake while the stock cover out back is ditched for a carbon fiber diffuser skirt complimenting the quad exhaust tips. The stock rockers are ash-canned for new side skirts and rear fender flares over turbine like alloys. The quality looks top notch with good fit and finish. The designers also showed a very nice mustard and ebony custom interior that looks better than it sounds.
Customizing Corvettes is a hit or miss proposition. Can Am body kits for C3s come to mind and are the stuff of nightmares. For the price of this kit, you could buy a bolt on supercharger and stick with the absolutely acceptable factory body panels. What do you think? Is this body kit killin’ it? Or do you prefer the comparatively tame stock C7 bodywork?
