The last 2015 Corvette rolled off the assembly line in Bowling Green, KY on Wednesday, June 17, and Chevy has already shared the final model year counts for the 2015 Corvette. Corvette sales were down 8-percent from 2014 (37,288 vs 34,240), although 2015 was shorter than 2014 which might account for the reduction.
The production mix was as follows, Stingray coupes were the most popular model with 60.6-percent, followed by Z06 coupes at 20.4-percent, Stingray convertibles at 14.1-percent and Z06 convertibles at 4.9-percent. The most popular color was Artic White at 18.9-percent of production and Daytona Sunrise Orange and Night Race Blue were the rarest at only 4.1-percent.
To get an idea of how hot the C7 is, Chevy was selling between 10-13K C6s a year in 2012 and 2013. With current production at roughly 35K units a year Corvette sales have effectively tripled and Chevy has sold almost 80K C7 Vettes to date!
Historically, Chevy sees big number increases when a new Corvette is introduced so this is not a surprise, but we wonder what this will do to the used Corvette market when a huge number of C7s come off lease or are traded in for the next latest Vette. Affordable two year old C7s would be great news for Vette fans everywhere.
Tripling Corvette sales is an amazing achievement and the Corvette development team and Bowling Green deserve a big hand in delivering the best sports car in the world.
