Once you get started on LEGO, it’s hard to give it up. The Danish purveyor of building blocks has made fans both young and old across the globe, and every day continues to spread the gospel of brick-borne creativity in boys and girls, young and old.
New concepts are something, however, that LEGO takes a great interest in. The company’s ideas page gives fans the opportunity to share their creations and gather support to make the design a future LEGO offering.
Such is the case here, a two-tone C3 submitted by user Brickdater. The motivation for the budding LEGO artist was simple: “Ever since I can remember I’ve always wanted a ’69 Vette. So I built one.”
“The Corvette was truly the first American sports car. The 1969 C3, with its Coke bottle curves and standout performance, was an icon of its era and remains highly sought after today. Its immediately recognizable body shape is what drew me to try and create it in LEGO form, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.”
As of this writing, he’s chalked up over 900 supporters but only has until August 29th, 2015 to gather another 9,000 or so before it reaches the higher-ups at LEGO, who will review and (hopefully) approve this cool concept. It certainly must have been a difficult process figuring out how to replicate the intricate aesthetic cues of the C3 using hard-edged plastic bricks, but Brickdater was able to make it work, all the way down to the engine bay and interior.
All in all, we think it captures the essence of the third-generation Vette to a “T,” but what do you think? Is this C3 a winning design or could you do it better? Pop down below and deposit your two cents.
