With baseball season now in full swing (sorry, we couldn’t help it!), stadiums across the country are gearing up to handle the thousands of fans lining up for America’s favorite pastime. Over in the Motor City, GM has put the finishing touch on the Comerica Park stadium with a new fixture that’s sure to draw a lot of attention.
Two of the automaker’s biggest draws, the best-selling Silverado and the top-performing Corvette, have been placed atop the appropriately dubbed Chevrolet Fountain in center field, carrying out the ongoing, seven-year tradition. More specifically, the vehicles are both new 2015 models, those being the Midnight Edition Silverado and supercharged Corvette Z06.
The Midnight Edition offers truck enthusiasts a purely visual package, riding the all-black (or “murdered-out,” as some call it) trend to the hilt by offering factory-installed painted bumpers, badging, and wheels, and of course, black-out tires. It’s distinct from the similar Black Out Edition in that it can only be ordered on crew cab models with the Z71 off-road package.
Meanwhile, the Corvette Z06 is a track killer we’ve all come to know and love by this point. 650 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque, plus the optional Z07 package make this car the last word–for the time being, anyway–in what it means to own a factory-built American supercar.
We’re guessing Tigers fans will be pleased with Chevy’s picks for this year compared to last year, when an Equinox and a Silverado were hoisted over the fountain. Would you have made the same choices for 2015? What about 2016?
