When an owner and a car meet after being separated during a long overhaul process by a company like Callaway, the reunion can be a very exhilarating experience filled with anticipation and elation.
Such is the case with this face-lifted 2015 Callaway Corvette. The question I have is, however, is how long did the owner sit and wait on his front porch, flying a drone around his property, before this enclosed car hauler showed up? I mean, this guy must’ve had the trailer company on speed-dial, or GPS location mapping, right?
Callaway has always been revered as one of the greatest aftermarket names to grace Corvette culture. With the rebirth of the Stingray Z06 the company stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. Producing an astonishing 757 hp and a tire-frying 777 lb-ft of torque, the Z06-based SC757 that was just delivered to this lucky SOB is ready for battle.
The delivery of this particular car in Southeastern Pennsylvania became a neighborhood event, as nearby folks emerged curiously from their homes at the sight of a fifth-wheel cradling a supercar in its hold. With the drop of the rear lift gate it was obvious that this Corvette staked its claim as the baddest vehicle on the cul-de-sac.
As a result of being harnessed and tethered for far too long you immediately feel the wrath of this bitchin’ Corvette as the rubber meets the road. Firing on all eight cylinders at start-up, one can hear the ominous, thundering sound of the 6.2-liter powerhouse under the hood. Rated to run 2.8s in the zero to 60 mph time, and a very impressive 10.5s in the 1/4-mile, Callaway proves once again why so many Z06’s and base Stingrays pass though their Old Lyme, Connecticut shop.
