We are excited to announce that our friends at Goodguys Rod & Custom Association are hard at work prepping for this year’s event season. It is certainly the eleventh hour, the only difference–we’re sure that classic car enthusiasts cannot wait for the clock to strike twelve.
First and foremost get ready for the season opener, The 5th Spring Nationals at Westworld in Scottsdale, Arizona. “The three day event features show and shine with over 2,500 cars, vendor exhibits, a large swap meet and car corral, and more fun with cool cars! It’s the first of 19 Goodguys events across the country this year.”
We all know that Goodguys events are known for the plethora of activities planned for each weekender, this year is definitely going to be bigger and better. Some say it’s hard to improve upon a classic but the folks at Goodguys seem to be masters at just that, check it out:
“The popular Goodguys AutoCross also gets back into full swing, picking up right where it left off last November. Cleveland’s Danny Popp won the Goodguys AutoCross Finals Shootout in his ’72 Corvette, beating the best 24 cars in the country. The Finals Shootout returns this season with an expanded 32-car field, the first finalist to be determined at the season-opening Spring Nationals.”
With the 5th Spring Nationals being the season’s “lid-lifter” be sure to clear your schedules for the season highlighter, the 17th annual Goodguys PPG Nationals held on July 11-13 in Columbus, Ohio. Also, a new three-event series is making its debut this year known as the “Goodguys All American National.” These three events will, “Welcome all years, makes, and models of American made or American powered show cars, opening the gates to generations of new Goodguys event participants and enthusiasts.”
The three All American National events are as follows:
April 25-27 in Orlando/Kissimee, Florida
June 6-8 in Indianapolis (new location–Indiana State Fairgrounds)
Chip Foose will also be making special guest appearances at the following Goodguys events–Del Mar, Indianapolis, Columbus, and Pleasanton in August. You can catch the iconic hot rod artist and concept designer at these shows signing autographs as well as handing out “Foose Design Awards” to those truly eye-catching builds.
If you aren’t able to make it to those don’t fret, the “Chip Foose Experience” semi-truck will be in attendance at almost every show during the 2014 season. “Featuring Foose-built cars, memorabilia, collectibles, and more,” this traveling exhibit will definitely be a crowd drawer.
To cap it off, Goodguys will be ushering out the 2014 in full force–they’ve got a new 78-foot show rig that will be tasked with hauling all event supplies. Be sure to mark your calendars and get ready for the 31st year of Good Times brought to you by Goodguys.
