Evans Waterless Coolant Keeps Your Engine Cool For Life

Water is a great coolant, there’s no doubting that, but it has it’s own set of problems that comes with using water as a coolant.  At higher temps, water boils and pressurizes your cooling system, and as the water turns into vapor, there are spots where the engine’s surface is not getting the cooling because of the off gassing (or bubbles) as the water heats up.

[1]What happens if you don’t use water in your coolant? That was the question that Evans Cooling Systems [2] tackled when developing their waterless coolant.  Evans Vice President and General Manager, Steven Pressley, explained to us; “We did a lot of research in developing our coolant.  We found that by using the right blend of non-aqueous liquid chemicals, some of them toxic when used alone, they became non-toxic and stable when blended together.”

[3]In addition to being environmentally friendly, the Evans waterless coolant also has properties that make it a unique performance coolant.  Take for example, it lasts a lifetime.  Pressley explained; “you might have to strain it before you pour it back into the system because of contaminants from the engine, but it can be reused over and over.”  That’s about the most encouraging economic news that we have heard lately.

Because the Evans Waterless Coolant does not rely on water to transfer heat, the boiling point is much higher than conventional water based coolants.  Pressley said: “If you use water based coolants and drive down the road a few miles, you wouldn’t dare take off the radiator cap because it’s under pressure and the steam would burn you.  With our coolant you can drive down the road and pull over to the side and open the cooling system up without fear of being burned from vapor.  It simply does not pressurize the system because of boiling at these temperatures.”

Pressley also recommended that a good cooling design to help get the maximum out of your system; “An aluminum radiator creates higher flow and has greater fin-tube contact.  This will transfer heat more quickly to help cool your engine.  Plus, aluminum radiators can be up to sixty percent lighter in many cases.”
