Edelbrock to Host, Sponsor Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge

[1]

[2]Hot Rodders of Tomorrow [3] is an exciting Engine Building Challenge in which high school-level automotive teams compete against each other to see which team can tear down and rebuild a small-block Chevy engine correctly, in the shortest time possible.

When Race & Performance Expo organizers put together the first Challenge as an exhibition event, they had no idea that it would start a major initiative within the aftermarket industry.

Where five schools participated in the 2008 event, more than thirty schools and three hundred students now take on the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge.

Teams of high school students and an Instructor are invited to compete on a regional basis, from which winning teams advance to the National Event, held yearly at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV.

Vic Edelbrock, Jr. has been instrumental since the beginning in bringing this program to a National level. Edelbrock is also proud to host the Division 7 leg of the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge at this year’s 6th Annual Rev’ved Up 4 Kids Charity Car Show [4].

Things are ramping up for the Challenge this year, as Ohio Technical College (OTC) and the School of Automotive Machinists (SAM) have each committed $530,000 each, bringing the scholarship pool to an incredible $1,060,000! The scholarships for each division from each college provide $5,000 for each 1st place student, $3,000 for each 2nd place student, $2,000 for each in third place, and a $1,000 will be awarded to each non-placing student.

All are invited to join the Edelbrock team on May 1, 2011 at the Car Show to see the action first hand. Show information is provided on the Rev’ved Up 4 Kids [4] site. Additional information can be found at the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow [3] web site.
