We’ve seen it before. Sometimes an individual gets the bright idea to transform their car into something totally different. Usually it is a low dollar ride that gets converted into a copy of a super rare exotic. We commonly see Pontiac Fieros being re-bodied as Ferraris. This time however, the base car just so happens to be a C5 Corvette.

To the untrained eye, the finished product in this eBay auction looks something like an older Saleen S7 from a few feet away. When taking a step closer though, it is easy to tell that something just isn’t right. It seems that the downfall of this piece is the details. The first thing that doesn’t seem to fit are the Corvette wheels and naturally, the Corvette brake calipers are next in our line of sight. When we take a look under the hood, we see more familiar parts. The original fuel rail covers were modified to display “Saleen S7 1200 HP” along with the oh so familiar 5.7L that we all know and love.

Perhaps the most painful part of this car is the interior. While the outside isn’t too bad, given what it is, the interior just doesn’t work for us. We see what is obviously a C5 interior with Saleen logos plastered all over the place.

Now, we know that a lot of work went into this ride and we can’t say that it’s all bad. While it doesn’t seem to be fit and finished to an especially high standard, the sports coupe is equipped with a twin turbo LS6 that probably makes a decent amount of power. Even though the seller doesn’t seem to know too much about the power adder, it sounds like the output could be promising. After all, the ad says “A real old Saleen S7 runs at over $350,000 if you can find one,” and this Vette-leen can be had for only $65,000…
