eBay Find: A C3 Corvette That Doesn’t Know Quite What It Is

transformer-3 [1]Arguably the least-loved of generation of the long Corvette legacy is the C3, which came on the scene just as fuel economy standards and emissions regulations combined to kill carbureted performance V8 engines. GM then shifted into making the C3 Corvette more of a “Grand Touring” car, causing it to grow in bulk. As a result, the market for C3 Corvettes is small, but dedicated, and you can actually find some great deals if you don’t mind these less-popular rides.

transformer-5 [2]In order to make them more appealing, some C3 owners even added their unique styling and flair to these American GT cars. Today’s eBay find [3] is a 1977 Corvette with some custom body work and projector headlights that isn’t sure of its own identity, but is still pretty cool to look at.

The owner describes this custom Corvette as a “Batman/Transformer/Corvette Summer Corvette Showcar Project”, and yes that is exactly what the ad says. Confused identity aside, this ‘77 Corvette has gotten a modified front end that, at least in these low-resolution pictures, looks fairly well done. L88 Corvette-inspired flares add 8 inches of width to the rear of this ride, and 4.5 inches to the front, giving this already big Corvette more even more bulk.

transformer-2 [5]Still, the projector headlights are a nice touch, and the fresh Chevy 350 under the hood looks like it’ll provide enough power for a fun night of cruising, though this isn’t any race car. Rather, it is a conversation piece, one begging for a nice paint job and a plusher, more 70s-inspired interior. Where is the rich Corinthian leather or Malaise-era browns and oranges?

Bidding is currently stalled at just $6,000, and for a few grand more you could have a classic Corvette with a unique look that is sure to grab attention wherever you drive it.
