eBay Find: ’64 Corvette Convertible Burned to the Beltline
They say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and while that may be a little far fetched, a current eBay lot is banking on that possibility. While many of you would be interested in a nice ‘64 Corvette convertible project car if it popped up on eBay at a reasonable price, this auction is a little different. This isn’t just a project, it’s a MAJOR PROJECT, as the car was involved in a fire. Still interested? Well you wouldn’t be the first one to be since bidding has skyrocketed higher than $13K.
The ‘64 Corvette fared as well as one could expect after erupting into flames. The convertible top is gone, as is the interior, and the engine bay has seen better days. However, to a knowledgeable and talented gearhead, these things may only seem like a minor set-back.
According to the vehicle description, everything on the underside of the car is still in good condition, including the wheels, automatic transmission, brakes and rear end. The engine did suffer a good deal of fire damage, but the seller is confident that it can be repaired in the right hands. We think there might be some engine components that are salvageable but it would be a lot easier to just buy a new front end and swap in a new 327 or something bigger.
There is no denying that there is a lot of fire damage to this car. However, there are enough pieces that were untouched by the fire and others that could be repaired to possibly warrant taking on this major project. After all, if you like challenges, this is right up your alley.
If you are interested in bidding on this Corvette, you have to act fast because the lot expires tonight. So far, the bidding has reached $13,095 with 46 bids placed. Be aware that the car comes with a non-repairable California title, so you’d have to find out if the Corvette could even be registered in your state after it was brought back from firey oblivion if you do bid.
