eBay Find: 1965 Corvette Gasser

[1]Though the Corvette began its existence as an underpowered touring car, by the mid 1960’s it was the beefiest roadster you could buy. With a wide range of big, powerful engines, plenty of Corvettes soon found themselves pulling double duty as daily drivers and weekend warriors.

But not this next Corvette. At some point, the person in ownership of this Corvette on eBay decided that it would be used for one thing, and one thing only; hauling ass down the dragstrip. Sure, you could drive this 1965 Chevy Corvette gasser on the street if you were so inclined, but you might want to bring along some ear plugs.

That’s because under what is left of the hood is a small-block Chevy engine boasting a huge supercharger. We’d be shocked to find mufflers under the body, though you can row your own gears thanks to the four-speed transmission. The license plate brackets are intact too, so as long as the headlights, brake lights, and windshield wipers work, this is technically a street legal car.

But this is the kind of Corvette more at home on the drag strip or at a Sunday afternoon car show than sitting in rush hour traffic. If you want, you can put the interior and trim pieces back on, but this gasser setup will take a lot of work to undo. Besides, with all the Concours-quality Corvettes around, we think the world could use an unfinished, flat-black badass of a ‘Vette.

But it won’t go for cheap, with the auction ending at $16,800 without hitting the reserve. What is your top dollar on this race-ready ‘65?
