[1]Can you believe there have been seven different generations of Corvette? It seemed like it was only yesterday that the 1954 Corvette rolled off the assembly line. To Celebrate 7 Generations of Corvette, on their UK website, Chevrolet upload an interactive timeline. Corvette lovers and those fascinated with Automotive History will be able to scroll through all 7 generations of Vettes. They will have a chance to learn about each generations design history and click on different parts of the car to learn about their function or design purpose.
Users will also be able hear each generations engine roar (guessing by the sound these engines are Inline- 6 for C1, 327 for C2, 350 for C3, L98 for C4, LS1 for C5, LS3 C6 and LT1 C7). Users also have the option to customize each Vette by changing it’s paint job, swapping wheels, and adding body effects such as a hood scoop, wings, and even decals. They can then share their custom coupes over social media with their friends.
While this is a cool feature, sadly most of the mods (such as the wings and the wheels) only seem to fit the C4 and later Vettes. Most of these parts seem better suited for Euro or Japanese Imports rather than an American Classic. None the less, if a young kid is interested in cars they will have fun customizing the cars on the timeline to pass the time in class, since they can’t play games as most schools block gaming websites.
The last time Chevy did a timeline exhibit for the Corvette was in person at the 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise. Chevy has now set one up for all of the world to enjoy and you can check out the timeline for yourself here [3]. What is your favorite generation of Corvette?
