Craigslist Find: Fake “Rear Engine” C4… Seriously?

[1]

Have you ever gone on Craigslist and asked yourself, “WTF am I looking at?” We have on many an occasion, and today was no different. This morning while browsing for a potential new Corvette project car, we ran across this yellow C4 with a – get this – “mock rear engine” stuffed into what used to be the trunk.

That’s correct – the engine has literally no function whatsoever, other than looks and slowing the car down with its weight. The Vette still relies on the [presumably] stock TPI engine up front for motivation.

We don't even know what to say about this, really. It doesn't function, it looks odd, it killed the trunk space, and thanks to the weight, it makes the car much slower than it already was.

There are literally no details on this 1985 Corvette “Coup” other than the obvious. No mileage reported, no creature comforts listed. It’s basically a “what you see is what you get,” with a phone number attached. The only thing that we see that sticks out about this car, apart from the obvious, is the knockoff spoke wheels that were probably installed sometime back in the mid-90s. We think the stock rollers look better.

Oh, and for added appeal, the roof has been done up with a flame job that’s just as cheesy as the rest of the car. We really don’t get it either, nor did we even notice until the seller mentioned that in his/her ad. We think it’s just as useless as the engine in the trunk, since you can’t really notice it, and it becomes completely invisible once you remove the targa roof. Whatever.
