The Corvette Racing [3] team is at it again! They’ve secured their third straight victory in the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship this past weekend at Watkins Glen.

[4]After Magnussen in the No. 3 C7.R qualified second in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen with a lap time of 1:44.376 and a top speed of 117.268 mph, the Magnussen/Garcia duo managed to lead 154 of 185 GTLM laps. On the first lap of the race, Magnussen overtook the pole-sitting BMW and held as much as a 30-second lead at various points of the race.

Tommy Milner, in the No. 4 C7.R, qualified seventh overall with a lap time of 1:44.783 and a top speed of 116.813 mph. The Milner/Oliver duo, in the No. 4 C7.R, finished fourth after running in second behind their teammates for most of the day, but a stop-and-go penalty inside the last hour of the race was the result of what the officials called “avoidable contact,” hindering their efforts of getting to the podium.  [5]

A full-course caution with 25 minutes left brought the field closer together, and after the restart, a final yellow period resulted in a final lap dash, where Garcia held off the second place Viper by .185 seconds. “The Corvette C7.R team’s first race at Watkins Glen was exciting given the challenging track and intense competition that kept the pressure on all race,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Antonio and Jan drove a great race and the crew executed quick pit stops. We are thankful to come out of The Glen with a GTLM class win and the class championship lead.” [6]

Garcia and Magnussen also won the third round of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup, which is a four-race championship made up of the TUDOR series’ four endurance race events – Milner and Gavin moved into first place of the Patrón Endurance Challenge with only the 1,000-mile Petit Le Mans remaining at the end of the season.

Awesome job to the whole Corvette Racing team, you guys earned it! Keep it up, fellas! We’ll be watching the next race in suspense!
