As the the 2011 American Le Mans Series approaches, Corvette Racing has announced changes in its driver lineup for the new season. In part, the changes result from Johnny O’Connell’s move to the Team Cadillac motorsports program in SCCA World Challenge competition, along with former Corvette Racing teammate Andy Pilgrim.

Tommy Milner will join Olivier Beretta in the #3 Compuware Corvette C6.R for the full ALMS season, with Antonio Garcia returning as third driver in Sebring, Le Mans and Petit Le Mans events. Milner, from Lake Mary, Florida, is an experienced  competitor who finished third in the ALMS GT standings last year.

Richard Westbrook will join Jan Magnussen and Oliver Gavin in the #4 Compuware Corvette C6.R for the three long-distance events. Westbrook, who comes from London, England, won the FIA GT2 championship in 2009 and scored podium finishes in 24-hour races at Le Mans and Daytona in 2010.

Milner and Westbrook will become the 21st and 22nd drivers on the Corvette Racing team, since it’s debut in 1999. Both have tested privately in the Corvette C6.Rs and will participate in the ALMS’ February winter testing in Sebring, Florida, on February 9-10.

Westbrook will be third driver in the #4 Compuware Corvette C6.R for the endurance events.

Both drivers were delighted with the news. “When you look at sports car racing over the last 10 years, the biggest name in GT racing has to be Corvette,” Milner said. “With all of the team’s victories in Le Mans and the success they’ve had here in America, Corvette Racing has a history of winning. To have the opportunity to be a part of the Corvette program at this point in my career is very exciting.”

“I’ve raced against the Corvette enough times to know it’s better to be driving one than racing against one,” Westbrook acknowledged. “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the Corvette Racing program for 2011. The Corvette C6.R is an amazing piece of machinery, very well engineered, and it’s just an honor to drive one.”

Corvette Racing’s next competition event is the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway in Florida, on March 19, 2011.
