Funfest 2012 will be a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the release of perhaps the most iconic Corvette in history; the 1963 Split-Window Stingray.
Mid America Motorworks recently announced the theme for the forthcoming 2012 Corvette Funfest, which will be held on September 13th through 16th of next year. The 2012 Funfest will be a celebration of 50th anniversary of the iconic 1963 Corvette Stingray’s release, and Mid America Motorworks hopes to have as many of these classic American Chevrolets as possible on display for the event.
Mid America tells us, “We will be celebrating the Golden Anniversary of the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray, one of the most venerated sports car designs. Adding to the distinctive split rear window and convertible models, the 1963 Sting Ray offered up to 360 HP, a sizeable number for its time and very respectable even by today’s standards. It was also the first time Corvettes featured a fully independent rear suspension.”
The artwork for the 2012 Funfest was done by popular Corvette Artist, Mr. Dana Forrester, and the subject of the painting is Mid America’s own 1963 Stingray Split-Window Coupe with the Z06 package that is a part of the MYGarage Museum Corvette Collection. NCRS has verified that this Stingray was among the very first Z06’s delivered, and was sold by the legendary Yenko Chevrolet dealership, in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania.
