The low, powerful, and sleek design of the C7 makes it one of the foremost sports cars in the world today. It goes without saying that GM made a home run with the latest generation of Corvette, and owners of these cars looking to upgrade can take care of several items at once when they visit the LG Motorsports website.
From wheels to suspension to exhaust and more, the company offers a variety of top-notch parts for the platform, and all are eligible for 10 percent off when you use the promo code USA1. Without further ado, let’s dig into a few of these products and discover what they do to enhance style, function, or both.
The first of these sweet products are the billet drag spindles. They do require the installation of LG’s rear brake kit and lower control arms, but you’ll be reaping the benefits once these forged aluminum spindles are on tight to round out your drag racing Stingray (Z06s included). They retain the use of the OEM parking brake and disc brake calipers, while allowing the use of 15-inch drag wheels.
Next, we have the monoball control arm bearing kit. These kits are a must if the Vette is intended to see some action on the track, and come packed with the same innovations found in LG’s World Challenge and Grand Am racing projects.
Once installed, taking turns in the car will feel more controlled and far less nervous than before. That’s thanks to a stainless steel ball with a Teflon-lined race for fluid motion up and down as the conditions change. The bearing races are press-fit into the control arms, as opposed to being glued in. This makes for a very durable setup that offers zero deflection, reduced wheel hop, and better grip.
When it comes to cooling, LG has the C7 covered too. First, there’s the Super Cool Radiator that adds almost a gallon more of coolant capacity and packs a big 2-inch thick core for more surface area. The radiator still uses the OEM fan, hoses, and fittings, and comes recommended with the install of a 170 thermostat. This radiator should make a difference for road racing applications, where we’ve heard some rumblings of C7s suffering from cooling issues.
Second, when it came to LG’s attention that Stingrays were not able to stay cool during High Performance Driving Education (HPDE) events, they sought a fix through A6 Stingray HD cooling kits. The kits come in three stages: Stage I, which includes either a high-capacity pan or high-efficiency cooler; Stage II, which includes a much larger one-gallon transmission pan and upgraded cooler; or Stage III, which includes Stage I as well as modified OEM lines for a second cooler, and brackets and adapters to mount the OEM cooler inline.
Exhaust mods come in the form of LGM’s Super Pro headers. The Super Pro line is touted as one of the most powerful Corvette headers in existence, owing to their mandrel-bent, stainless steel construction, and come in either stepped or 1.875-inch versions.
Paired with a set of optional 3-inch high-performance catalytic converters, the headers provide even better flow to the LT1’s exhaust. Added torque and horsepower come early and stay all the way through the power band. LG provides extension wires, OEM gaskets, bungs, and hangers with the kit that bolts on without too much fuss.
Last but not least, the ZR7 wheels make for a considerable upgrade to any C7. Made from forged aluminum, they’re as strong as they are stylish, not to mention lightweight. In fact, the wheels will save almost 20 pounds when installed on all fours, reducing the unsprung weight on the vehicle.
LG offers the wheels in a variety of colors to suit your tastes, so feel free to get as wild or as neutral as your heart delights. The ZR7s work just fine with the OEM Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and lug nuts too.
