Corvette Crash In Austria Seriously Injures 10 Bystanders

[1]

Nestled in the snow-capped Austrian mountains lies a small village by the name of Großraming. While this little town might not seem familiar at first, it hides one of Austria’s best kept secrets: The Ennstalring [2]. Known by many in the MotoGP racing field, Ennstalring is one of the last remaining public road circuits still being raced today. During any form of racing at any track, safety is always the top priority; though crashes rarely harm bystanders.

Unfortunately, on September 15th, the practice lap of a C4 Corvette on the Ennstalring circuit ended in tragedy. While taking a turn on a sharp corner, it was reported that the Corvettes’ rear-end lost traction and caused the driver to lose control. The car then proceeded to slam through a barrier, slide into someone’s yard, and then collide with a crowd of spectators.

10 people ended up seriously injured, with 6 of the injured requiring medevac flights to the nearest hospital. The driver received minor injuries but walked away mostly unharmed. The next days’ main race was promptly cancelled. Our thoughts go out to the ten injured in this horrific accident and we wish them a quick recovery.
