As 2014 cycles down and begins to give way to 2015, the cars of next year are now shipping into showrooms, soon bound for the garages of America. Chevrolet has made a big deal of what’s next for the C7 Stingray, and deservedly so: features like Valet Mode and the Performance Recorder datalogging system, as well as the new Z06, are bringing excitement back to America’s favorite Bowtie.
Adding fuel to the fire is Car And Driver, who just named the Corvette one of the Best Cars for 2015. The assortment of vehicles spans the USA, Germany, and Japan, but we like to think that the C&D staff consider the C7 to be the best of the bunch, just because hardly any other car comes close to the Vette’s achievements.
Among the collection, you’ll find the usual suspects like the Mustang GT, BMW 235i, and Tesla Model S, all credited with advancing this and innovating that. But only the Corvette was given praise like the following: “Even in this, its second year on our list, C7s hypnotize, the convertible and coupe equally. Sitting in the lot among the other contenders, they stand out as if rendered on a Retina display while others are appearing on a CRT.”
We don’t need to recycle the love and adoration the C7 is given by C&D writer Jeff Sabatini here, but the long and short of it is that the supercar has qualities that make it feel more tangible and realistic compared to exotics. Things like the pushrod V8, modern interior, and high-tech gadgetry all come together seamlessly, and in so doing create an automobile that turns “[imagination] into reality.”
What are your thoughts? Is the C7 the best of the bunch? Or is there still room for improvement? Leave us a comment below, and then view the rest of the 10 Best Cars here.
