Some people are never happy. If they win the lottery, they’ll complain about paying the taxes. If they have a supermodel girlfriend, they will share their disdain for her insecurities, and if they buy a Corvette, they have a desire to re-body the thing. It’s lunacy that we’ll never understand.
Some things should be left well enough alone, and a C6 Corvette is one of them in terms of the body. The sharp, edgy styling is what helped set many GM vehicles apart from their competition for the last decade, and messing with it is sort of sacrilegious in our eyes.
We were tipped off about this 2005 ‘Vette from one of our readers, and it’s currently for sale on the automotive classified website, mautofied.com. It’s current asking price is $65,000. That’s not a typo, but there’s a pretty decent excuse for the eye-popping price tag.
According to the listing description, it’s a “TRUE one off SUPERCAR…” The capital letters must be the seller’s way of depicting excitement for an eight year-old car that, for the money, could put you behind the wheel of a brand new Z06. But the details of this machine add more logic and understanding to the listing.
This C6 started out in life as a “fully loaded” example, that over the years, has transformed into the creation found on this page. It features an aftermarket body kit that stretches the car’s profile an additional three inches, adding a menacing and aggressive look to the car.
The engine has been modified to the point that it’s putting down a reported “over 600 supercharged true RWHP,” and it’s noted that the owner constantly gets thumbs up from drivers of ‘quarter-million dollar super cars.” Whatever, it’s not a bad looking Vette, but is it really with $65,000 in our eyes? In a word, no.
