Callaway Competition [2] has earned quite the name in the racing world. Rightfully so after their release of the Corvette C7 GT3-R [3] last October.

It took racing fans of the internet by storm with its sharp-lined carbon fiber body and 600-horsepower V8 under its hood. Completely redesigned for the new FIA rules for the 2016 racing season, its latest engine is based off a Chevrolet Performance 6.2-liter V8 and paired with a X-trac 6-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters.

It was said to be hitting circuits around the world in 2o16, but skipping out on anything in the United States. This was true– until now, as GM has agreed and confirmed that not only one but two GT3-Rs are to be participating in in the Creventic 24-hour race at Circuit of The Americas. It will be making its arrival sometime in early November, before the racing kicks off the 10th through the 12th. The driver line-up has yet to be announced.

General Motors’ Racing Director Mark Kent told Sportscars365, “We have agreed to allow that car to run in that specific race in the U.S. because it doesn’t compete against our Cadillacs, as we’re trying to highlight [those]. To have them racing head-to-head against a Corvette, it’s not clear to the fans and not fair to the Cadillacs. We think it’s going to be great exposure for that car and [will] help Callaway with their program.”
