You may remember earlier this year when Callaway Cars floated a trial balloon for their C21 AeroWagon “shooting brake” conversion of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Well, we are hearing from Car Buzz by way of our friends at CorvetteBlogger.com that the reaction to that concept was so positive that Callaway is moving forward into actual production.

Initially, the estimated cost of the conversion, which centers around a new composite hatch that gives the C7 a new “long roof” profile, was pegged at $15,000. Car Buzz now reports that the $15k doesn’t include an additional $1,500 for paint matching, and there will be a separate supercharger-plus-bolt-ons package available for $22,995. But, in the automotive journalism version of the kids’ game of “telephone,” when Autoevolution picked up the story from CarBuzz, that $22,995 price tag got attached to the AeroWagon conversion, which according to them includes the engine upgrades. All that was then reported by CorvetteBlogger, and the end result is that we don’t know what it will cost, if the engine upgrades are included in the cost we don’t really know, or when it all will be available.

One thing we’d put money on, though, is that the matching two-passenger AeroWagonette trailer, which Callaway teased on 4/1, is just a particularly well-done prank. We’ll just have to wait for official news from Callaway to find out the real details on the AeroWagon, but in the meantime, do you think it’s a viable choice for those looking for a Stingray with a little more room under the hatch?
