C7 Mules Caught On Video During Cold Weather Testing

We’ve seen a lot of hype about the future C7 Corvette lately. It seems that the closer we get to the car’s official reveal at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, the more questions and rumors we hear. This need-to-know attitude also seems to be prompting more and more spy photographers to track down C7 mules, if only to give us a glimpse of the highly camouflaged test vehicles.

While we too want to know what the C7 has in store, we can only see so much from the photos of blacked out mules. That’s why we were excited to find out that spy photographers for Edmunds Inside Line had captured video of two next-gen Corvettes going through cold weather testing up in Ontario, Canada. Thanks goes to Keith Cornett over at CorvetteBlogger for giving us the heads up.

The seventh-generation Corvette is set to hit the market by the end of next year as a 2014 model. We have yet to hear what the car’s proportions are going to be, what kind of engine will power the car, or even whether or not the future Corvette will maintain the current front-engine, rear wheel drive configuration. Of course there are rumors about all of these things and more.

However, the video from Inside Line seems to address some of the rumors. Shots of the back of the car seem to reveal that LED taillights might be in the works and the side shots certainly seem to show a longer wheelbase. If you skip to about the 50-second mark, you can also catch a couple seconds of the exhaust note coming out of the mule, leading Inside Line to believe there is a small-block V8 under the hood, rather than rumored V6, turbocharged and big-block powerhouses. Although the C7 Corvette model could have one of these options in store, we’ll have to wait for the official reveal to find out.

Right now, all we can do is enjoy watching the mules tooling around in the snow. Don’t forget to turn up those speakers so you can enjoy a little taste of the C7 sound.
