The C6 version of the ZR1 certainly made some waves in the car community, but we’re anticipating the launch of the C7 version.

In a case of, “Wish we could have been there,” a pre-production C7 Stingray was caught testing against some of European’s finest automotive exotica. Oh, and against a C6 ZR1 [3] too. The Euro sports cars in question include an Audi R8 V10 [4], a Ferrari 458 [5], a Porsche 911 Carrera S [6], and last but not least, the McLaren MP4-12C [7]

Impressive company indeed, but why the heck was the Stingray stacked up against such automotive refinement in the first place? We can only assume that the engineers at GM are quite confident in their baby, and/or were trying to get a benchmark for an upcoming Z06 model. Or as Autoblog [8] suggests, the C7 ZR1, which could very well have as much as 700 HP. How cool would that be?

We ran across some photos for proof, thanks to our friends at Autoblog, but since the photos were shot by KGP (the KGB?) we couldn’t actually share them with you here or they would have our heads, according to your author’s editor.

So you’ll just have to settle for the selection of random photos of the cars in question from some people that don’t mind us all that much, and we’ll continue to bring you updated information as we get it. Hopefully, we’ll see that souped-up C7 soon enough and the Corvette will finally be the car of choice for the wine and cheese crowd.

These are just some examples of European iron that the Stingray will have to face.
